St Andrews is a lovely small town, located in the Kingdom of Fife, an hour north of Edinburgh on the east coast of Scotland. It has lovely beaches, a castle (this is Scotland), a cathedral (in ruins), a great university, cosy pubs and a fantastic bottle shop for whisky and more (again, this is Scotland). Travel to St Andrews
The easiest way to get to St Andrews is to fly to Edinburgh. Take the Bus 100 Airlink to Haymarket Station. Take the train (normally every 30 minutes) to Leuchars (direction Dundee/Aberdeen). The train takes about 55-65 minutes (around 11 GBP single fair). For more information see Nationalrail.
From Leuchars you take the Bus (the 99 runs frequently), which takes about 10-12 mins into town. From the bus station in St Andrews it is a 3-5 mins walk to MacIntosh Hall.
Accommodation McIntosh Hall
McIntosh Hall is one of our student halls in town in walking distance to the School of History. Accommodation will be B&B in single or twin rooms. The summer school will run from Monday 8 June 2015 to Wednesday 10 June 2015 (end of day). Accommodation is booked from Sunday 7 June 2015 to Thursday 11 June 2015 (four nights).
Spend an extra day – but not the extra budget? Need a couch?
Scotland is always worth the extra day. There will be St Andrews PhDs participating at the summer school.

Nearer the date, once you start planning your trip, we will be happy to assist you getting in touch with local students – hoping to find a corner or couch to sleep in order to keep costs as minimal (and be as social) as possible.
