Last week, based on AHR conversation, Clavin, and R\u00fcger’s OXO we had a good discussion (mainly in small groups) around a number of topics – with a number of looses ends. These included:<\/p>\n

-the relation between nation and trans<\/p>\n

-the relation between transnational and global history (world history)<\/p>\n

-we touched upon the role (and moment of comparative history) in transnational history (with reference to the work of Kiran K. Patel “Soldiers of Labour”)<\/p>\n

-we discussed the challenge of time & periodisation in transnational history<\/p>\n

-the question came up: is transnational history a thematic history? migration, trade, social history…?<\/p>\n

We hope to come back and encourage you to come back to these problems and challenges, both in class, essays, projects. Here is just the visual reminder of what we “threw” on the whiteboard.<\/p>\n
